Sir Alex: Time to move on

20/04/2009 13:40, Report by Adam Bostock

Sir Alex Ferguson is ready for the next twists in the title race as United and rivals Liverpool get set for their first league games since Easter Saturday.

A lot has happened since the champions claimed what the boss considers an "important victory at Sunderland" - United have reached one semi-final and lost another on penalties while the Merseysiders' campaigns have been cut to one after a thrilling exit from Europe.

Now the two great rivals will get back to the bread and butter of the Barclays Premier League, with Sir Alex's leaders taking on Portsmouth at Old Trafford on Wednesday night, 24 hours after the second-placed side face Arsenal at Anfield.

"We did our analysis of the semi-final on the train back last night and now we move on to Wednesday, it's a big game for us," said Sir Alex in today's brief press conference.

"We've got seven league games left to play and I hope we win them all."

The only piece of team news was to reiterate that "Wayne will be okay for Wednesday", as reported on ManUtd.com yesterday.

As for Tuesday's match, the boss has no issue with Liverpool playing first again - for the third round of league fixtures in a row - and dismissed any notion that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger may rest players, given the Champions League now looks his sole target.

"Arsene is a winner," said Sir Alex. "I don't expect him not to try."
