Chelsea await Sunday's winners

United will have a chance to avenge the 2007 FA Cup final defeat if the Reds can overcome Everton in Sunday afternoon's semi-final at Wembley.

Chelsea came from behind to beat Arsenal 2-1 in Saturday's semi. Didier Drogba, scorer of the extra-time winner against the Reds in the 2007 final, netted another decisive strike to see off the Gunners. A poor contest was all set for an additional half-hour prior to Drogba's 84th-minute finish, following Theo Walcott and Florent Malouda's first-half goals.

Defeat for Arsenal will put them under greater pressure to beat United in the semis of the Champions League, the only competition the Gunners can realistically win this season.

Saturday's league games were of little consequence to United, although next opponents Portsmouth warmed up for Wednesday's trip to Old Trafford with a vital win over Bolton.

Kanu claimed the goal which puts Pompey six points clear of the drop zone with six games left. Middlesbrough have one game fewer to save themselves after being held 0-0 at home to Fulham; Blackburn and Hull are only three points above them after both lost 1-0 away at relegation-battle rivals Stoke and Sunderland respectively.

Aston Villa caused further damage to their fading hopes of a top-four finish by only drawing 1-1 at home to West Ham. Emile Heskey gave the Villans an early lead but Diego Tristan levelled with five minutes to go, to leave Villa seven points adrift of Arsenal.

Finally, United fans can mark Molineux on a map of grounds to visit next season. Wolves are certain of a return to the Premier League after beating QPR 1-0 in the Championship, courtesy of ex-Reds striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake's 25th goal of the season.
