Jose Mourinho drew up a balance of this experience, comparing the level of tension in the Premier League to that of Italy, which he thinks is completely different.

"English football is like a paradise for coaches, who can look to the future without fearing criticism, without pressure," he said to Repubblica.it. "Meanwhile, in Italy they are much more obsessive.

"[Arsene] Wenger hasn't won a title for four years and he's still working, [Rafael] Benitez hasn't managed to win the Premier League in five years and his contract gets extended. In Italy that doesn't happen.

"Here it's just about results, results, results, there's too much drama. In England there's more thought about the future because there is no pressure to win immediately: they buy young players, they build. It's nice."

From a footballing point of view, however, Mourinho believes the Premier League isn't as superior as it's made out to be.

Referring to yesterday's 4-4 draw between Arsenal and Liverpool in the Premier League, he said, "I understand that these games excite the fans, but as a coach I don't like to see a game like Liverpool-Arsenal. It's wonderful for those who buy tickets or watch the game on television. On the bench it's a bit different because it means that technically something went wrong."

The coach concluded with a joke, "The difference in tranquility can also be seen by the fact that in England the coaches have less grey hair."

Mourinho looks set to lift his first Serie A title with Inter, who lead the Serie A table by a ten-point margin over Juventus and Milan.
