Man United Players Dominate PFA Player Of The Year Nominantions




Rio Ferdinand, Ryan Giggs, Cristiano Ronaldo, Edwin van der Sar and Nemanja Vidic of the Red Devils are all in contention along with Liverpool's Steven Gerrard.


Manchester United have absolutely dominated the nominations for the PFA Player of the Year award with five of the six contenders belonging to the reigning Premier League champions.

Rio Ferdinand, Ryan Giggs, Cristiano Ronaldo, Edwin van der Sar and Nemanja Vidic are the Red Devils players competing for the award, along with Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard.

Ronaldo has won the trophy for the past two seasons, but Vidic and Giggs are being hotly tipped to pick it up this season.

Meanwhile, United have had two youngsters named in contention for the PFA Young Player of the Year Award, as have Aston Villa.

Defensive pairing Jonny Evans and Rafael join Villa's Gabriel Agbonlahor and Ashley Young, Manchester City's Stephen Ireland and Tottenham Hotspur's Aaron Lennon on the shortlist for an award which was won by Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas last year.
